Best college town in Texas

Denton, named “the best college town in Texas,” combines an active live music and art scene with a family-friendly hometown feel. The city’s thriving music scene has produced critically acclaimed musicians and bands such as Sarah Jaffe, Midlake and Eli Young Band and is home to a number of music festivals, including 35 Denton and the Denton Arts & Jazz Festival.

Getting around

A free bus system serves the campus, picking up students every 10 minutes. The e-Ride on-demand shuttle provides free rides from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. You can ride the bus in Denton just by showing your valid student ID. The new DCTA A-Train offers student rates for riding between Denton and Dallas. You also can rent a car on campus at a low hourly cost with Connect by Hertz.
