What is your favorite place/thing to do in Denton? Why?
I love trying new places to eat! Whether it's breakfast at Old West, empanadas at El Guapos, or barbacoa tacos from Taco Lady there's always a great place to go.

Why did you decide to attend UNT?
It was one of the only schools, at the time, that offered International Studies. I was able to make it my own by combining a little bit of everything that interested me into one major.
What is your favorite place on campus? Why?
Any swing bench in the shade. Watching the squirrels is so funny- they’re interesting little creatures and I love reading my book outside!
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Start applying early- take the SAT/ACT the summer between your junior and senior years, check out deadlines, application cost, etc.! As much as I would love for you to attend UNT, go to the university you want to go to; don’t settle for something your best friend wants or what your family wants. Just make sure it’s a fit for you and that they offer what you want to study. Make sure it’s somewhere you see yourself for the next four years.
My random fact
My first name, Adagui, is made up -- and as of right now, I am the only person with it. My middle name, Oyuki, is Japanese, but I am 100% Mexican.

What is your favorite place/thing to do in Denton? Why?
EAT! Because in addition to all my favorite spots, there are so many unique places to try that you won’t find anywhere else.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Get outside of your comfort zone! Don’t miss out on a life-changing experience because it’s not something you would normally do. Try new foods. Meet new people. Go new places.
My random fact:
When I was a kid, I rode an elephant with my younger sister and 2 cousins at a Children’s Expo! Maybe that’s what Aladdin felt like in the parade? I learned much later that riding an elephant was nothing like riding a horse. Good thing I wasn’t afraid of heights!

Why did you decide to attend UNT?
I choose UNT over every school in the state because of its location and the atmosphere. Once I stepped foot on campus I knew I was in the right place.
What is your favorite place on campus? Why?
My favorite place on campus would have to be my fraternity house. As a sophomore at UNT I took on the challenge, along with 30 other guys, to start a new fraternity on campus. Four years later we cemented our legacy on campus with the opening of our new house on fraternity row.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Get involved on campus! Join an organization or start one. It will open up more doors than you could even imagine.
My random fact:
I am a die-hard San Antonio Spurs fan. I choose items that are silver and black subconsciously and even have a cat who is grey and white. Go Spurs Go.

What is your favorite place on campus? Why?
My favorite place is a toss-up between our two newest facilities on campus. I took one of my last MBA classes in our new Business Leadership Building and I loved it! There’s a really nice atrium area where students hang out all the time, a huge computer lab with free printing and even a coffee shop with Starbucks coffee. There are tons of group rooms that are free to check out and those were really helpful when working on projects. I also LOVE our football stadium, Apogee. The energy at our very first game there was one of the best things I’ve experienced in my time at UNT. I’m a huge North Texas football (and basketball) fan so you’ll see me there at every game, normally with signs!
What is your favorite place/thing to do in Denton? Why?
I have so many! I love Mi Casita salsa, shredded beef soft tacos from Fuzzy’s, chocolate chip pancakes from Seven Mile Café and Scrappy’s ice cream (UNT Dining Services makes it!). In the interest of talking about something other than food, Denton has so many fun things to do. I go to the square often to shop at La Di Da, Shoe Fly and to just hang out. I think Denton has such a different feel from other places I’ve lived. It’s easy to be you here and people are going to like you for it.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
College is all about taking initiative and being brave. That was one of the hardest things for me my first week here. I had to leave my room in order to meet people (seems obvious, I know!). Once I made myself be a little brave, it changed my college experience forever. I became an RA, Eagle Ambassador and then an Admissions Counselor because of the connections I had made on campus. So, be brave your first weeks here. Get out and attend the events in your hall and on campus. And if you ever need a friend, feel free to stop by and see me anytime!
Who do you like more? Deep Blue Something, Eli Young Band, or Bowling for Soup
No contest- Eli Young Band. Their song “Crazy Girl” is one of my all-time favorites!

Why did you decide to attend UNT?
I knew that UNT would be the right place for me when I came on my campus tour during Spring Break of my senior year of high school. Everyone was really friendly and I had a really good experience during my tour. When I arrived at UNT in the fall of 2003, that feeling was confirmed again as I got acclimated with the campus and our traditions. I got so wrapped up in the campus traditions that I would walk around campus singing the fight song any chance I got; even to the point of annoying my roommate and friends. What can I say? I love the Mean Green!
What is your favorite place on campus? Why?
My favorite place on campus is Willis Library, AKA Club Willis. There are a lot of great places to study, a coffee shop, and some really cool collections. We have a clay tablet that is over 4,000 years old in our Rare Books Collection, a great Texana Collection, and a unique Miniature Book Collection. I have been known to spend hours just browsing the stacks.
What is your favorite UNT fact?
My favorite UNT fact is that our mascot, Scrappy, has had two names since his inception. His original name was Scrappy and then the student body voted in 1974 to change his name to Eppy since they thought that Scrappy was “too warlike”. His name was changed back to Scrappy in 1995 when UNT returned to Division I athletics.
Who do you like more? Deep Blue Something, Eli Young Band, or Bowling for Soup
This one is really hard for me as I REALLY like all three and have special memories of them all. Eli Young Band (before they were well known) played at my Freshmen Orientation. “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” by Deep Blue Something is one of my favorite songs. Bowling for Soup has a special place because they are great to see live and have a lot of love for Denton. If I had to choose one, I would choose Deep Blue Something.

What is your favorite place on campus? Why?
Sec 104, Row 1, Seats 1 & 2 at Apogee Stadium. These are my season ticket seats for Mean Green Football. I have not missed a UNT home game in 8 years. I even make sure that my recruiting travels never take me too far from campus to make it back for a game.
What is your favorite UNT fact?
The current Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the United States earned his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of North Texas in 1982. Ambassador Adel al-Jubier also received an honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from UNT in 2006.
What is your favorite place/thing to do in Denton? Why?
UNT brought me to Denton, but Denton made me stay! I love the community. It is vibrant, artistic, musical, eclectic, but at the same time, Denton also retains its quaint small time charm. I am drawn to the music scene in Denton. From Denton 35 (a 4 day music festival), to the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, the local music venues of Dan’s Silverleaf, Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios, Rockin’ Rodeo, Hailey’s, et al., to the numerous world class music performances on campus -- music is the heartbeat of campus and the town!
Who do you like more? Deep Blue Something, Eli Young Band, or Bowling for Soup
Simple answer… Bowling for Soup. I first started listening to them when I got to Denton in ’97 and immediately fell in love with them. I have probably seen them in concert 50+ times. I was even on the inside cover of their 1998 release “Tell Me When to Whoa!” If you find an old copy, you can find me standing in the audience of the 1998 Fry St. Fair wearing a Hawaiian shirt and a straw hat.

Why did you decide to attend UNT?
Several of my family members came to UNT, so there was a strong tradition. I came to UNT Preview and toured the campus. I fell in love with the campus and community atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. During my freshman year, I became involved in several organizations on campus. I felt right at home!
What is your favorite place on campus? Why?
Apogee Stadium. I am a huge sports fan and love going to all the games. All the spirit activities before the games are really fun. I also enjoy watching the UNT Green Brigade march at half-time!
What is your favorite place/thing to do in Denton? Why?
I love the Denton square. There are so many neat shops and restaurants! I also really enjoy the live music scene in Denton. There are always bands coming to town to play the different venues. I love our festivals. We have an annual Arts and Jazz Fest, 35 Denton Music Fest, the annual Tree Lighting on the Square and many more!
Who do you like more? Deep Blue Something, Eli Young Band, or Bowling for Soup
They are all cool, but I’m going to have to say Eli Young Band. I went to school with them here at UNT and we became great friends. It has been really awesome to see them progress from little local shows to the huge concerts and great success they have today. I am so proud of them and LOVE their music!

What is your favorite place on campus? Why?
University Union 1st floor. You will find the food court, and various other campus attractions. There is a piano located in the open court next to a water feature that flows through part of the building, and if you’re lucky, someone will be playing the piano; it can be a very tranquil and relaxing environment.
What is your favorite UNT fact?
UNT is one of the most diverse college campuses in Texas.
